Convergence is the signature project of the CSEST, which uses conceptual modelling to understand the evolving threat landscape set in motion by the global rise of authoritarianism. It analyses how conventional threats change and evolve across multiple fronts with the mobilisation of authoritarianism against liberal democracy. Convergence is a concept proposed by a CSEST researcher in 2020. This concept is being tested rigorously on many fronts, under various scenarios, and backed by real-world evidence. CSEST tests ‘the convergence’ to map out how the global rise of authoritarianism rewrites the threat landscape and transforms threats intending to achieve primacy of authoritarianism in geopolitics.
